世界一クールな街・神保町へ｜古書店街に通う東京滞在
2025年9月、東京の神保町が世界の注目を集めました。都市情報誌Time Outが発表した2025年版「世界で最もクールな街（World's Coolest Neighbourhoods）」で、全39の街の中から世界第1位に選ばれたのです。2位はベルギー・アントワープのボルゲルハウトでした。
なぜ神保町が世界一に選ばれたのか
Time Outが評価の基準としたのは、文化、コミュニティ、住みやすさ、ナイトライフ、飲食店、街のにぎわい、そして「今らしさ」の7つの要素です。派手な観光地でも、新しい商業施設でもない街が1位になったところに、この評価の面白さがあります。
神保町にあるのは、約130軒の古書店が集まる世界最大級の古書店街です。生成AIが文章を書く時代に、紙の本を売る店がひしめく街が世界一に選ばれた。この対比が、国内外で驚きとともに受け止められました。
もうひとつの理由は、この街が観光客のためにつくられた街ではないことです。大学と出版社が集まる学生街として100年以上の歴史を持ち、いまも地元の人が日常的に通っています。老舗の喫茶店や欧風カレーの名店、裏路地の独立系書店が、観光の演出ではなく生活の一部として並んでいます。
神保町で体験できること

当館は東京メトロ丸ノ内線「茗荷谷駅」から徒歩9分、文京区小石川の静かな文教地区にあります。神保町までは約15分です。
神保町までの行き方
東京メトロ丸ノ内線「茗荷谷駅」から「後楽園駅」へ（1駅、電車で約2分）。後楽園駅から都営地下鉄「春日駅」までは地下通路でつながっています。春日駅から都営三田線で「神保町駅」へ（2駅）。
当館の周辺も、神保町と地続きの学問の街です。徒歩圏に小石川植物園と播磨坂の桜並木があり、東京大学へは電車で約18分。東京ドーム最寄りの後楽園駅までは電車で約2分です。
古書店街に通うなら、長期滞在をおすすめします
神保町は1日で見終わる街ではありません。130軒の古書店を回ろうとすれば、何日あっても足りません。1軒ずつ棚を見て、疲れたら喫茶店に入り、翌日また別の通りを歩く。そういう時間の使い方が合う街です。
当館は全14室すべて鍵付きの個室で、連泊と長期滞在を歓迎しています。

7泊以上のご滞在の場合、客室内の清掃とリネン交換の実費として、1人1ベッドあたり1,500円を7泊ごとに現地でお支払いいただきます。エグゼクティブルームを2名様でご利用の場合は3,000円です。なお、ご滞在中の客室内の清掃は行っておりません。共用部（トイレ、シャワールーム、キッチン）は毎日清掃しています。
Jimbocho: The World's Coolest Neighbourhood
In September 2025, Time Out named Jimbocho in Tokyo the number one entry on its list of the World's Coolest Neighbourhoods for 2025, ranking it first among 39 neighbourhoods worldwide. Borgerhout in Antwerp, Belgium, came second.
Why Jimbocho?
Time Out judged each neighbourhood on culture, community, liveability, nightlife, food and drink, street life, and a sense of the present moment. Jimbocho won not as a polished tourist district, but as a working neighbourhood.
At its centre is one of the largest concentrations of second-hand bookshops in the world, with around 130 stores. In an age of generative AI, a district built on printed paper took the top spot. That contrast is much of the story.
Jimbocho has been a student and publishing quarter for more than a century. Universities and publishing houses are still here, and so are the people who work in them. The old coffee houses, the European-style curry restaurants, and the independent bookshops down the back lanes are part of daily life rather than a display for visitors.
What you can do there
- Browse around 130 second-hand bookshops, many specialising in a single field such as art books, foreign-language titles, ukiyo-e prints, or antique maps
- Spend an afternoon in a coffee house that has been open since the Showa era
- Eat your way through the curry restaurants — Jimbocho is known for them
- Walk the back streets, where independent bookshops and small galleries sit side by side

Getting there from D-RYOKAN
D-RYOKAN Myogadani Korakuen is a 9-minute walk from Myogadani Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, in the quiet academic district of Koishikawa, Bunkyo City. Jimbocho is about 15 minutes away.
How to get to Jimbocho
Take the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line from Myogadani Station to Korakuen Station (one stop, about 2 minutes). Korakuen Station connects underground to Kasuga Station on the Toei subway. From Kasuga, take the Toei Mita Line two stops to Jimbocho Station.
Our own neighbourhood belongs to the same world of universities and old bookshops. The Koishikawa Botanical Gardens and the cherry-lined Harimazaka slope are within walking distance, the University of Tokyo is about 18 minutes by train, and Korakuen Station for Tokyo Dome is about 2 minutes by subway.
Why a longer stay works better here
Jimbocho is not a place you finish in a day. With 130 bookshops, no itinerary is ever long enough. You look through one shop, rest in a coffee house, and come back the next day for a different street. The district rewards that pace.
All 14 of our rooms are private and lockable, and we welcome long stays.
- Self check-in, available from 15:00 until 5:00 AM the next morning. Entry is by keypad, so a late arrival is not a problem
- Shared kitchen with an induction hob, for travellers who would rather not eat out every night
- A desk and free Wi-Fi in every room, for reading what you bought and for work
- Luggage storage from 10:00 to 22:00. Free on the day of check-in and the day of check-out; JPY 500 per day otherwise, payable at the property
Bathrooms, toilets and the kitchen are shared. That is how we keep this location at this price.
For stays of 7 nights or more, a cleaning service including bed linen change is provided every 7 nights, at an additional charge of JPY 1,500 per person per bed, payable at the property. Guest rooms are not cleaned during your stay. Shared facilities (toilets, shower rooms and kitchen) are cleaned daily.
