Bunkyo City Turns 80 in 2027: Events Around Korakuen

Bunkyo City will mark the 80th anniversary of its founding on March 15, 2027, eight decades after the former Koishikawa and Hongo wards merged in 1947. Events are planned across the ward, and the Myogadani and Korakuen area where we are is one of the places they happen.

The anniversary ceremony

The ward will hold its 80th anniversary ceremony on Monday, March 15, 2027, in the Small Hall of Bunkyo Civic Hall. Further details are to be announced on the ward's own channels.

What is happening around Korakuen

From July 2026 through March 2027, the observation lounge at the top of the Bunkyo Civic Center is being used as a visitor attraction. A photo mosaic panel is being made and exhibited there, and a limited-run Sky View Lounge BAR is planned. Bunkyo City Exchange Festa 2027, run with the ward's partner municipalities, falls in the same period.

For longer stays

If you are here for a while, the special exhibition at the Bunkyo Furusato History Museum in October and November 2026 and the pond-draining project at Higo Hosokawa Garden are both worth a detour.

Getting there from D-RYOKAN

The Bunkyo Civic Center is at Korakuen Station, about 2 minutes by train from Myogadani Station, which is a 9-minute walk from us. It fits neatly around a game or a concert at Tokyo Dome. Directions are on our access page.

The full schedule is updated on Bunkyo City's official page.
